Our Story

We are Bec and Ade and we love what we do.

Bec, Ade & Fred

Together we are The Church Farm Craft Company, a team of two middle aged humans with eclectic and varied career paths who've found their calling at the distillery on Church Farm and a very friendly and occasionally smelly Cockapoo, called Fred, who joins us in our exploits and endevours.

Bec is the multi talented engine room of the business, she is the distiller, forager and candle maker. Ade is the creative force and business head, he founded the business and has created all of the brands, artwork, designs and continues to spill out ideas, some good and some, not so good.

The pottery is a shared passion, Ade does most of the clay andwork and Bec loves to glaze. Hand labelling and hand finishing of all the products is a shared job, as is delivering all the lovingly crafted products out to all the lovely customers in their tired but willing 15 year old Land Rover.

It's not work if you love it, thats true, this is our passion.

Barlow, Derbyshire

On the edge of the Peak District.

When we aren't on the farm we are either having a quick pint at our local or we are out in The Peak District, taking in the shear scale of it, the diversity and the abundance of nature, on our doorstep, for free! Ade even takes 6am swims in a remote Peak reservoir before the day begins. We love it and we love Derbyshire. Its our home and always will be.

The Farm

Where we live and work.

We rent the original farm house on Church Farm (which is confusingly called Top farm) in Barlow, along with the distillery. Living on the farm for the past five years has taught us so much about the seasonality of produce and the shear hard work involved in keeping this great nation fed.

Sustainability

We aren't perfect, but we improve daily.

Our business is run off batteries which are solar charged. We try to be as plastic free as possible, we compost our spent botanicals, we collect our cardboard boxes and re-use them and we offer a refill service (shop only) for our spirits.

Giving

Doing our bit.

We donate a small percentage of our annual profits to Peak District centric charities, a donation from our mug sales goes to a national mental health charity and we support the local church and community projects. Even if its £1, it helps.

Chatsworth House

We have a great relationship with the Chatsworth Estate which we've nurtured and grown over the past five years. We produce some of their most popular products, including the Kitchen Garden Spirit estate, hand crafted spirit expressions made using the produce grown on the estate. We also make the entire Chatsworth Hand Poured Soy Candle range, fragrance diffusers and room sprays which form a key part of their best selling Home & Lifestyle range.

We work with a select few clients in developing and producing bespoke products for their brands and projects. Notably we've worked with the DJ and TV presenter Shaun Keaveny, TV Chef and Restauranteur Mark Aisthorpe.

If you have an extra special project that you'd wish us to work on, then please get in touch, we do very few projects each year, but those we work on we give our all to and the results match the commitment we put in.
